WHY we are committed

Balancing the demands of a busy life is difficult, and although we now have more ways than ever to stay "connected,"  we can become isolated and feel overwhelmed trying to "keep it all together." DASH believes by combining our resources and sharing our skills, we can positively transform how we connect as individuals, families and as a community.

Laura Schoppert Elstro ~ Founder

Laura was born in Baltimore and graduated from Friends School.  She earned a B.A. in Sociology from Roanoke College and worked in Marketing at the Renaissance Inner Harbor Hotel before returning to school and earning her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education.  Laura taught for the Baltimore and Cleveland City Schools, as well as Head Start and has opened and directed and created curriculum pre-K programs in Ohio.

The idea for DASH came from Laura's first-hand experience struggling to balance all of life's demands.   She realized that although our communities now have more ways than ever to stay "connected," many of us feel isolated and overwhelmed trying to balance the demands of a busy life.

DASH was created as a community initiative to encourage and empower people to combine their resources and share their skills, positively transforming how we connect as individuals, families and as a community.

Laura lives in Towson with her two sons, Jake, who is a sophomore at The University of South Carolina and Justin, a Senior at Towson High School.
